When you started to cry

In response to the Andy’s Poetry 101 Rehab writing challenge with the word prompt FATHER

When you started to cry

Maybe you will understand one day.
I just wanted to live my life.
But you kept comparing…
You should never do this to your child.

Your heart is big but so is your pride.
When I was leaving you started to cry,
giving me fake promises
and I believed you for a while.

You will never change.
I know you love me by your own way
but you like to keep the feelings deep inside.
Though,  when I was leaving you started to cry.

  1. Heartbreaking, and perhaps not so uncommon, thank you for this contribution
