SOAP – Psalm 51:2-4
David laments describing the sorrow he feels after committing great sin. David’s desire to have a clean heart before God is one that believers should also seek. But God made an everlasting provision for permanent cleansing from sin. The demonstration of God’s great love for believers was the sacrifice of His Son for ungodly sinners. Believers were once sinners who actively opposed God’s agenda. Believers were once sinners who cared nothing for the things or ways of God. Believers were once sinners who deserved the wrath of God. Believers were once sinners who were the enemies of God. Through that one act of Jesus alone, the opportunity was given for all to be reconciled with God by making the choice to surrender our lives to Him and follow Him. A believer’s confidence, assurance, hope, and stability can stand on the fact that God did the hardest thing. He sacrificed His Son to become one with His enemies. God freed us from the penalty and power of sin through our surrender to Jesus Christ.
Have you surrendered your life to the Lord? Who do you know that needs to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross? Will you share that Good News today?
Father God, I thank You Lord for loving me out of the darkness. I thank You for sacrificing Your Son for me. Lord, help me to totally rely on You, trust You completely, and surrender all of my problems and my pain to You…knowing that You love me as Your own. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
